Gay Man's Tweet Of His Mom's Homophobic Thanksgiving Message Goes Viral

One gay man’s tweet about his homophobic mother, including an angry voicemail she left him about a family Thanksgiving event, has gone viral.

American Masin Elijè took to Twitter on November 16 to post a voice message left by his mother, in which she appeared to insult him because he is gay, saying: “You’re not my child because I don’t raise a child like you.”


Elijè wrote: “If you are ever wondering how it is being gay and having a homophobic family, here’s what it sounds like.”

LGBT adolescents are more likely than other kids their age to try to kill themselves, a new analysis confirms.

Data pooled from 35 earlier studies show that sexual minority youth were more than three times as likely to attempt suicide as heterosexual peers, researchers report in JAMA Pediatrics.

Transsexual youth were at highest risk, nearly six times as likely to attempt suicide as heterosexual peers, researchers reported.

Closeted LGBTI Employees Suffer Professionally Study Says

LGBTI employees who aren’t out at work suffer professionally, according to a new report.

Produced by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and sponsored by Deloitte, the Out at Work report surveyed 1,600 LGBTI employees.

It found only 32% of these employees were out to all of their colleagues at work.

It also found not being out at work compromises wellbeing and decreases productivity.

Model Says He Was Dropped From Ford Modeling Agency For Being Asian And Gay

In an interview with Dazed Magazine, model Chufue Yang says he was let go from the Ford Agency due to his ethnicity and his sexual orientation.  

“Like any other queer person that grew up facing internalised racism and homophobia, I was really unsure of what it meant to be queer and Hmong simultaneously,” the model told Dazed. “Being comfortable with myself seemed like a goal I’d never be able to reach, until modelling came into the picture.”

Drew Dalton: I'm Bisexual and Muslim

One day when the mum of bisexual academic, Drew Dalton, was doing some cleaning she stumbled on some of his ‘hidden’ publications. But she never told her son what she found in his house that day.

It wasn’t until Dalton later ‘came out’ as Muslim that she confessed she had a feeling about his religious inclinations.
