MRI's Show Transgender Person's Brain Closely Matches The Gender They Identify With and Not Their Biological Gender

People questioning their gender identity could be offered brain scans to determine whether they are transgender, according to a study.

Research has revealed for the first time evidence that the brain activity of people who feel they inhabit the wrong body closely resembles that of the -gender they want to embrace.

Analysis of around 160 participants showed that biological males with gender dysphoria — the experience of discomfort or distress due to their biological sex — had a brain structure and neurological patterns similar to biological females, and vice versa.

Man Arrested For Murder of Dallas Transwoman

An arrest has been made in the murder of 26-year-old Carla Patricia Flores-Pavon, a transgender Dallas woman who died after being found unconscious in her apartment last week.

Investigators said Thursday 24-year-old Jimmy Eugene Johnson III was taken into custody in Walker County during a traffic stop; Dallas police said they'd developed him as a suspect and placed a notice on his vehicle.

Dallas homicide detectives traveled to Walker County to interview Johnson, who police said waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with police.

Mya and Kennedy Power: Don't allow being transgender to scare you from creating a family'

Mya, who identifies as a trans woman, and Kennedy, who identifies as a trans man, say being proud of who you are is the first step.

Mya came out as trans at the age of 15 and continued her transition until she was about 20.

Colorado Trans woman Sues After Being Raped In Men's Prison

A transgender inmate who was raped at a men’s prison in Colorado is suing over her ordeal.

Lindsay Saunders-Velez, 20, has filed a lawsuit against Colorado’s corrections agency, reports TIME, alleging that she was raped shortly after a federal judge denied her request to block the prison from keeping her in a disciplinary unit, according to court records and the woman’s attorney, Paula Greisen. 

She entered the prison system in May 2017 after she was sentenced to three years for violating the terms of a plea agreement on a felony menacing charge.

Connecticut Trans Woman Shot In The Face In Broad Day Light

A transgender woman has resorted to using a pen and paper to communicate after she was shot in the face in her own home on Wednesday afternoon.

The woman, who resides in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was shot several times in the arm and once in the jaw by a male perpetrator, who is said to have carried out the attack in broad daylight. 

A witness saw the victim “stumble out of the house and stagger across the street trailing blood,” reported News12CT.

NBA Star Reggie Bullock Makes LGBTQ Rights His Focus After Trans Sister Is Killed

Detroit Piston Reggie Bullock has made LGBTQ equality a focal point of his life. Ever since his sister, Mia Henderson, was murdered in Baltimore in 2014, Bullock has struggled to make sense of the violence and understand the transgender community. Henderson was a trans woman.

Now Bullock is coming out of the shadows and making himself a champion of inclusion. He and the Pistons are working with national LGBTQ organization Glaad and other members of the community to build the conversation about inclusion in the NBA and beyond.

Transwoman Amia Tyrae Berryman Found Dead Of Gunshot Wounds In New Orleans

A New Orleans resident has become the seventh trans woman to have been killed in the US this year.

The body of Amia Tyrae Berryman, 28, was found at 1.15am yesterday morning at the Shades Motel on Airline Highway, Baton Rouge. Berryman had gunshot injuries. The local coroner confirmed to GSN that an autopsy will be performed later today.

Hotel staff have told police Berryman was a guest at the hotel and had checked in for the night.

Local news outlets mis-gendered the victim, but her death has been mourned by online LGBTI activists and bloggers.
