A man facing felony drug charges is accused of grabbing a Smyrna police officer’s Taser and using it against him Monday, authorities said.
Mark Anthony Antunez, 20, of Marietta, got into a scuffle during his arrest in front of a home on Burbank Circle when he grabbed the officer’s Taser and discharged it, “incapacitating the officer,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by Channel 2 Action News. First responders rushed the officer to the hospital after he was struck twice by the Taser, once on his body and once in his groin, Channel 2 reported.
Antunez faces four felony charges, including aggravated assault against an officer, willful obstruction of an officer, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, Cobb County Jail records show. He also has holds placed on his record by Marietta police and the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles.
